Happy Dog, 2026
My Aunt and Uncle on my father’s Side opened a hamburger/hotdog restaurant called Happy Dog in downtown Sonoma California in the early 80s. I loved visiting Happy Dog on family trips to California.
Growing up in a family of engineers and scientists, I thought that running a hamburger shop was the coolest. My aunt would make us milkshakes and give us quarters from the tip jar to play unlimited arcade games. After closing, they would use the same grills and cook up Chinese food for our family.
