Floppy Copy, 2020-Ongoing

Paper, Acrylic Paint, Colored Pencil, Ball Point Pens, Graphite, Markers, PVA Glue

Paper copies of Floppy Disks sourced from personal, familiar and institutional archives. I am interested in the physicality of data, especially as our files, photos, memories are digitized, held in the clouds and are no longer tangible objects with weight and space. It is a study of our parent’s handwriting, will we even have handwriting to copy anymore?

This project is part service, replacing an unreadable object with an artwork worth keeping, this is whatever the opposite of digitizing or backing up in the technology du jour.
